What TRIAD is testing

Randomization and blinding help distinguish a drug effect from owner expectation, natural variation, and changes in care. Longitudinal follow-up matters because aging outcomes unfold slowly and can be confounded by many diseases.
Why mouse evidence is not dog evidence

Owners should not obtain rapamycin from unverified sources or adapt a human protocol. A veterinarian must consider immune effects, infection risk, wound healing, concurrent medication, organ function, and the legal context of any contemplated use.
How to read future results
Look for the prespecified primary outcome, sample size, retention, adverse events, effect size, confidence intervals, and whether results were peer reviewed. A statistically detectable change in one biomarker is not automatically a meaningful increase in healthy lifespan.
Negative or mixed findings are valuable. A trustworthy evidence site should report them as prominently as favorable findings.
Also separate exploratory subgroup findings from the result the trial was designed to test. A benefit seen only after dividing dogs by size, sex, age, or another characteristic may be a hypothesis for future research rather than a reliable prescribing rule. Replication and biological plausibility matter, but neither repairs a weak or post-hoc analysis by itself.
Finally, check whether quality of life improved alongside any survival signal. Extending time without preserving mobility, comfort, cognition, or owner-observed wellbeing would not satisfy the healthy-longevity claim most families care about.
