FDA conditional approval for dog drugs: what it actually means

FDA states that both pathways require the company to establish safety when the product is used according to its label. The central distinction is the effectiveness standard: reasonable expectation for conditional approval versus substantial evidence for full approval.

Conditionally approved labeling must clearly disclose the status. That disclosure helps veterinarians and owners understand that the full effectiveness showing is still being completed.
